PhD Project:
Dissecting the function and molecular evolution of long non-coding RNAs Supervised by Dr Julie Aspden, Dr Mary J O’Connell and Dr David Westhead. My PhD will use computational techniques to investigate the evolutionary conservation of lncRNAs in the cytoplasm of Drosophila melanogaster and other model organisms. I will also aim to understand the translational potential of lncRNAs, and their potential role as in the genesis of novel genes. Education: BSc MNatSci with Industrial Experience, University of Leeds BSc dissertation - "The fine balance of missing data, model specification and sampling when reconstructing a molecular phylogeny of the chordates". MSc dissertation - “A computational analysis of the conservation of long non-coding RNA and dicistronic genes in Drosophila”. |
